GenCog
Quick Snapshot
- Role: Founder & Principal, GeneralCognition (GenCog)
- Team: Principal-led practice with engineering subcontractors scaled to engagement scope
- Clients: Global aviation asset management, legal & professional services, AI-first startups, and hardware providers navigating AI adoption
Mandate / Opportunity / Problem Scope
GenCog is an AI advisory practice that helps organizations adopt AI responsibly and effectively. Most organizations know they need to "do something with AI" but lack the institutional knowledge to distinguish real capability from hype, evaluate build-vs-buy tradeoffs, or stand up governance frameworks that protect them without paralyzing adoption. GenCog bridges that gap through hands-on advisory spanning governance design, workforce training and enablement, build-vs-buy evaluation, use-case prioritization, and implementation strategy.
Alongside the advisory practice, GenCog operates as a small digital lab building AI-powered tools for thought and creativity, exploring novel interaction paradigms inspired by the legacy of pioneers like Douglas Engelbart, Bill Atkinson, Alan Kay, and Bret Victor.
What I Led / Delivered / Highlights
Enterprise AI Governance & Implementation — Global Aviation Asset Management Firm (2026)
Engaged as principal AI advisor to a global aircraft leasing and asset management firm with offices across the U.S., Ireland, and Singapore. Scope of work across the engagement:
- Authored the firm's enterprise AI governance policy and data handling guidelines, calibrated to the specific data sensitivity of aviation finance
- Delivered executive briefings and team-specific AI training sessions across U.S. and European offices, covering how AI models actually work, where they fail, data classification for AI use, and practical prompting frameworks
- Conducted a multi-vendor evaluation of AI implementation partners, producing a structured comparison framework and sitting in on all discovery calls to advise on vendor fit
- Produced a phased implementation roadmap spanning data infrastructure, file storage indexing for AI context grounding, intelligent agent development, and workflow automation to replace incumbent managed services
Earlier Engagements
- Designed custom generative AI productivity workflows for a New York legal team, driving a 45% efficiency gain in knowledge work; authored and delivered "AI Fundamentals for the Workplace" training for 15+ professionals.
- Co-built a multimodal "AI concierge" platform for a global powerbank provider, surfacing contextual content across 50+ charging kiosks worldwide.
- Served as technical PM advisor to Personal AI on WhatsApp integration concepts, iOS onboarding flows, and App Store launch readiness.
Impact / Lasting Value / Takeaway
GenCog engagements move organizations from ad hoc AI experimentation to structured, governed adoption. The combination of governance-first framing, practitioner-level technical depth, and implementation planning means clients don't just get a policy document or a training session; they get an institutional understanding of what AI can and cannot do, and a concrete plan to act on it.
